Building Resilience with Real Capability! ACMEPOINT Constructs the "Yunlin Shigui Elementary School Disaster-Prevention Microgrid"

In response to the impact of extreme weather on the power system, the government is actively building disaster-prevention microgrids at key evacuation sites across Taiwan. The "Yunlin County Shigui Elementary School Disaster Prevention Park Small-Scale Disaster-Prevention Microgrid Construction Project," guided by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and undertaken by ACMEPOINT, is now officially entering the completion inspection and acceptance stage, in conjunction with Taiwan's first "Disaster Prevention Education Technology Center."

Among the many disaster-prevention microgrid projects nationwide, following a functional pre-inspection conducted by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, together with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) as the third-party technical review body on October 21, 2026, ACMEPOINT became the first company to complete the main construction works. The project is now undergoing the most critical phase — the "72-hour uninterrupted power test and acceptance" — during which the system will operate continuously while fully disconnected from the external grid. The entire project is expected to be completed by November 30, 2026.

The company has previously undertaken Taipower projects such as the "Tainan Nanhua Microgrid" and the "Taoyuan Benggang Microgrid," accumulating extensive practical experience in microgrid construction and system integration. In response to the differing grid environments and operational requirements of each site, the team has built comprehensive engineering execution and system tuning capabilities in key technical areas such as power frequency control, energy storage system integration and calibration, and island-mode operation testing. This technical experience, validated through actual Taipower projects, has become an important foundation for the company's execution of the Shigui Elementary School microgrid project and for ensuring system quality and operational reliability.

The Shigui Elementary School microgrid system is centered on enhancing disaster response and energy self-sufficiency. When the external grid loses power due to natural disasters or other causes, the system can use energy storage equipment and a smart energy management mechanism to support essential communication, lighting, and emergency power needs at the evacuation site. It is designed to sustain critical loads for 72 hours, improving response resilience and evacuation safety during disasters.

Beyond its disaster-response function, during normal operation the system can also use its energy management system (EMS) to integrate renewable power generation, energy storage dispatch, and electricity usage management to improve energy efficiency, achieving peak shaving and valley filling as well as electricity cost optimization depending on actual usage conditions. This microgrid model not only demonstrates the diverse value of distributed energy systems in both disaster prevention and everyday energy management, but also offers a practical reference for future energy resilience and ESG sustainability initiatives at schools, public facilities, and corporate sites.
